Lake Norman Living

Every day can be a like holiday when you live in the Lake Norman area. This spectacular body of water is a virtual playground for visitors and residents. Lake Norman is bordered on the east side by I-77 and the west side by Highway 16. Both roads offer easy access to Charlotte and surrounding cities.

Shores that once were dotted with summer cottages and campsites today are the backdrop for multi-million dollar mansions. However, the lake stretches across four counties and homes of all types can be found on and around the lake. Everything from the simple condos to the perfect right-sizing ranch home to 16,000 square-foot estates.

Motor boating, sailing, kayaking, fishing, skiing, swimming and lots of other activities abound on the lake. There is many a solitary island for relaxing with a picnic. You may see hot air balloons or parasailers overhead. Along the lakeshores are graceful waterfowl, majestic raptors, deer, and other wildlife.

There are many waterfront parks and marinas. Some offer half- and full-day boat and jet ski rentals. Ramsey Creek Park in Cornelius and Blythe Landing in Huntersville both have boat launch facilities. Duke Power State Park on the north side of the lake offers swimming, walking trails, a boat launch, picnic sites, and canoe and rowboat rental. For receptions and gala occasions, you can book one of the large ferryboats for a catered event as you cruise the lake.

Of course, the wide range of shopping and dining spans from causal to very upscale, your choice. All in all, Lake Norman is resort living just a short drive from city life. What could be finer?
